let’s talk: Motives

Helloooo lovelies! I have been dying to post about some of my new favourite products that came in the mail a few days ago and so far, out of everything I got, the Motives Mavens Sculpt Series is definitely a new all time favourite of mine. The colors go on the face quite smoothly and also gives off a really nice finish when everything is blended in. I got a very large order of Motives Cosmetics products so expect to see a lot of posts on my reviews and take on the Motives Cosmetics line, but so far, nothing has let me down!

For this look, I used the Motives Mavens Sculpt Series to contour. Now, I’m going to be honest… I don’t have that much experience with contouring and this is one of my many attempts at it, and to me, it came out pretty decent. 😛 With a lot of youtube watching, learning and a lot more practice, I’m sure I’ll be able to get better at it in no time! I kept my eye makeup simple, as I wanted to focus mostly on my contouring and first impression on the Motives Mavens Sculpt Series.

Listed below are all the MOTIVES products used to achieve this look! 🙂

  • Motives Perfecting Face Primer
  • Motives Mavens Sculpt Series in both “Fire” & “Ice”
    > For highlight color, used “Frost” from the “Ice” Series (Added a little bit of concealer as well to the highlight color)
    > For contour/dark color, used “Blaze” from the “Fire” Series
  • Motives Full Coverage Photo Finish Powder in “Neutral Light”
  • Motives Bronzer in “Miami Glow”

pretty in pink.

I wanted to do a quick post on a new favourite Pink lipstick that I will definitely be using a lot this summer! After purchasing my first ever red lipstick and adding that into my collection, I thought about what other colors I wanted to give a try. Most of my pink lipsticks are more neutral and light and I felt I was in need of a lipstick that gave more of a pop of pink rather than the nude-like pink that I am used to. I came across MAC Cosmetics’ Matte Lipstick in “Kinda Sexy” and let’s just say I fell in love with it instantly! I find that this lipstick is perfect for anyone like me who still loves their neutrals, but wouldn’t mind a hint of color here and there for a more fun and summery look. This lipstick has a rosey pink hint to it, which I find stands out real nicely when used with a slightly darker nude lipliner.

new favs, & new essentials.

One thing I have been needing for my brushes for forever now is a good and effective tool to clean them!! Luckily, after looking at many, I no longer need to look further – Sigma’s new Spa Brush Cleaning Glove is exactly what I’ve been looking for! With it’s universal flip option, you don’t have to change hands when cleaning certain brushes. One side is for face brushes and the other is for brushes specifically used for the eyes. I’ve heard so many good things about it and can’t wait to try it out for myself. It comes in 3 other colors as well, so you definitely have some options. Hopefully I can get a video up soon on my first time using it, for you all to see how it works!

Included in my order from Sigma, I decided to order their best selling F80 – Flat Kabuki Foundation Brush… & let me say… wow, what a difference!! With this brush, you can really feel your foundation set into your skin so smoothly, that it barely feels like you’re wearing anything! The bristles of this brush are incredibly soft and feel so nice on your skin when applying your foundation. To me, it definitely was worth the price to add to my collection of brushes!

Lastly, I also ordered one of their eye base primers, as I have also heard good things about it. I haven’t tried too many different eye primers but out of the two I currently use, I have to say, I love how this applies onto your eyes. I can really tell a difference in the pigmentation of my eye shadow colors after applying this beforehand. The color I bought this in is “Persuade”, which is a nice nude-like color. I recommend this if anyone is on the look out for the good eye base primer, as it comes in many other colors as well to suit your skin tone.

back2basics with Urban Decay’s Naked Basics Palette

Screen Shot 2016-07-25 at 11.32.37 PM
Whenever I’m not feelin’ a glittery and glam kind of look, my go-to makeup look is always a matte and neutral type of look. it’s subtle, but still gives off a sharp smokey-eye effect. i love achieving this look with my Urban Decay NAKED Basics Palette! This palette is perfect for anyone who is looking for shadows that are more everyday-like and that they can use daily for an effortless look. This look is also perfect for days that I don’t want to spend too much time on my makeup, as it doesn’t take me very long to create this look.

Keep reading below on how to achieve this look!

  1. With a large blending brush, apply the color, “Naked 2” on the outer crease area, and a little underneath your brow.
*TIP: To really get a nice blended look, move the brush in a windshield-like motion, back and forth.*
  2. With a more tapered blending brush, apply the color, “Faint” into the inner crease. Try to blend this into the color you just previously applied on in order to achieve the faded out, smokey effect. (You can grab your large blending brush again to blend out afterwards)
  3. Apply the color “Walk Of Shame (WOS)” to the rest of the lid, starting from the inner corner and blending it outwards.
*Make sure to blend it into the color of your crease to achieve the faded look – you can take a small flat brush and take the color “Faint” to blend in the middle of both colors as well.*
  4. As for the highlight color, take the color “Venus” and apply lightly underneath your brow.
  5. Apply your favourite gel liner and mascara to finish off the look. (For a more simpler look, you can skip the liner, and just add mascara to this look!)
